Where to ski in Chatel? – Chatel is part of the largest internationally linked ski area in the world  – Portes du Soleil.

The Portes du Soleil has 650km of pistes, snowparks and cross-country skiing, including 27 black104 red119 blue and 33 green runs.

Before exploring the full Portes du Soleil, Chatel has several expansive ski areas well worth spending time in during your holiday.

The Chatel ski domain has 49 ski slopes : 5 black16 red17 blue and 11 green, with a total length of 90 km.

The inclusive Chatel ski pass is also valid throughout the Swiss resort of Torgon, in the Corbeau sector of the Swiss resort of Morgins and the La Braitaz sector at La Chapelle d’Abondance (including the Panthiaz gondola lift).

With a Chatel ski pass you can use 58 ski lifts and 72 pistes totalling some 130 km (80 miles).

Chatel Ski Areas

Set directly behind the village of Chatel and accessed via the gondola in the centre of Chatel or via the Petit Chatel chairlift called Barbossine. From here you can travel to Torgon, La Chapelle d’Abondance, Morgins and further info the Portes du Soleil. For kids there is the Milka Run – a twisty, turny adventure with wildlfe information and the odd bar of Milka if you are lucky!
Park in the free car park and take the Linga bubble up to the mid-station. There are plenty of challenging village descents to take on before ascending higher to ski onwards towards Plaine Dranse via blues and reds, where you will find numerous traditional family restaurants and bars. The Chatel sensations ski school is based here and there are several apres-Ski bars.
The main gateway to the Portes du Soleil from the Chatel side of the valley. There is a huge free car park, toilets, bar, ski shop, nursery slopes, sledging area. Offering 2 departure chairlifts; Pierre Longue and Pre-La-Joux. Runs for every ability fan out from the top of these two lifts. From Pierre Longue you are just 3 lifts from Avoriaz and the also the Swiss sector – Mossettes!!
